What is it?
Botox has been around since the early 80’s. It is Health Canada approved for cosmetic treatments. Botox temporarily relaxes facial muscles causing a reduction in muscle movement. This gives a smooth appearance by eliminating wrinkles and fine lines. Botox is also known for it’s therapeutic effects such as migraines and excessive sweating.
How much I will need?
A complimentary consultation is recommended in order to determine not only the the number of units required but also the areas you would like to treat. This is based on many factors such as the current state of the lines and the strength of the muscle. We are here to educate and guide you on how to achieve a result that is both effective and long lasting. During your consultation you will be given all the information and instructions you will need to ensure a safe procedure leaving you feeling confident that we have addressed your concerns.
How long does it take?
Not long at all! The injections themselves take minutes. Many clients come in during their lunch hour for botox as this is done by a qualified health care practitioner. There is no down time with botox you are able to return to your regular activities after the treatment. Some do’s and dont's immediately after Botox will be discussed prior to the injections to ensure the most effective safe result - such as no laying down, exercise or rubbing the areas post treatment.
What are the side effects?
Some common side effects that are seen after botox are headaches, slight bruising at the injection site or red raised bumps which are all normal. Some other side effects which are seen less commonly are an eyelid or eyebrow drooping which can be managed and resolved over a few weeks. It is important to choose the right health care partitioner with experience and knowledge, to help minimize the chances of these undesired effects.
